Is it really necessary to have a cover for your aquarium? I wouldn't think fish would jump out. Would anemones, snails, or any other critters be able to get out?

Necessary no, but fish can and do jump out and most of us have experienced it. Some snails can too with a little help from equipment wires.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
All fish have the potential to be jumpers, some more than others. Wrasses, Gobies and Fire fish are all big time jumpers. Clowns can jump as well, lost my male clown that way.

There are several threads on DIY (Do it yourself) screen and mesh lids. Perhaps do a search under the I made this forum.

Anemones and most other inverts do not crawl out with the exception of some snail types.
