Well I'm looking into the JR system at the moment.. Id like to have as many sensors as possible. But if I have all my lights on timers already I really don't know why id really need one.

How does a reef angel compare to an apex? If you guys could go more into detail with your answers other than apex is way better than reef angel that would be great! I just want to understand controllers before I bite any bullet

Yep you can connect your computer through the ethernet port or wifi if you have the wireless unit. If you cant afford a electronic doser, you can buy a gravity drip doser which is just a big container with a little tubing with a flow valve to control the drip that you put above your tank which you can make DYI.

Reef Angel Pros: ($219 gets you Temp, PH, ATO, Head Unit, and power station)
    Cost (way more price effective)
Programming (open source makes for alot of cool options)
Really receptive owner who develops addons as per user request.
I can't think of anything you can't do with it.
A great established library of great programming.

Neptune Apex Pros ($370 for just the Apex Lite Head Unit)
A metric butt-ton of addons. (Neptune has more for the apex)
A long history of quality products
You don't have to learn a unique programming language?
A large hobbiest base with advice of how to implement protocols.

i am not really an electonics guy, i know absolutely nothing when it comes to computers and programming and such. so you would suggest the apex in terms of simplicity?

No. RA has a huge library and great support on their forums. You pretty much cut-past and update the controller. But thats just me, I've been in love with this idea since it first came out.
