I recently purchased two lyretail anthias and did so by not doing what I normally do before a purchase. That being educate myself about the given specimen before buying it. I unfortunately took the LFS's word and bought two females (thats all they had) for my 75. My question is is that will this work out or will I need to get rid of one. I read either keep them single or in a school and if in the school you need ike a 125 minimum.

    -THANKS FOR THE HELP GUYS!

it will work out :) the more dominate female will turn into a male. it will be cool to watch the fish change.

I'd say with only 2 they will probably stay female...maybe get a bigger fin. I would get 1 more that way the 2 are not fighting for dominance, or buy a male that has already changed. My lfs has em all the time.

I just ordered a trio myself, coming in tuesday, the only thing you may need to know is that they require to be fed in smaller amounts frequently, I'm probably gonna get a auto feeder if my wife doesnt work lol. post some pics, good luck

I would get another 1 nor two so the aggression from the dominant one will spread out to multiple fish. Just make sure to give them plenty of water flow and a varied diet and they'll be ok.

I would love to have a school of anthias, so personally I'd say get about 3 more females if you can (if you're wanting to watch the morph rather than get a male).

If you want to maintain their deep coloration, make sure you are giving them foods high in astaxanthin. (i.e. cyclop-eeze, arctipods, Micro-crabs, chopped up krill, Dainichi, etc)
