my tank which is 55g has been up for around 2 months now. it has fish, inverts, and corals all have doing great. water is perfect. the lfs recommends six months for a bubble anemone. should i wait or are they telling lies? would love to have 1 for my clown :) .

As long as your parameters look good and are stable then you should be fine.

I waited eight months to put a gbta in my 55 gallon. I'd wait at least six months. Then your tank should be stable.

An RBTA can be done in a 2 month old tank... just as long as your tank is stable.

At least 6 months, closer to a year to be safe IMO....

4-6 months is good IME. The reason is because, when you first setup a tank it is very hard to keep 90% stable at the most, but most of the time when you hit a 6 months period, everything will level out and be the same, you may have to dose Alk and Calcium but besides that a GBTA at 4 months if you think your tank has been pretty stable should be fine. I got one at 3 months(But i also do have almost 2 years experience in reef keeping) and it was doing fine, i just had to remove it since it was a lil big for my small tank :(

Like mentioned several times above stability & experience are key. There is no set 6 months 1 year etc time frame. By the time a tank is mature and stable, the owner is usually skilled & comfortable enough to keep one.

The manditory year is one of those reefer myths just like every mantis will break aquarium glass.
