I've had a yellow tang and hippo tang for over a year and a half now (got the yellow tang first and the hippo a month later). Initially the yellow was picking on the hippo (he was small) but that only lasted for a week or so. Now the hippo is grown and becoming very aggressive towards the yellow tang. I see pieces of his fins missing almost daily and I see the hippo picking on him. I've had hippos for years and they were never aggressive...any thoughts, is it just pay back?

try re-arranging your rocks a bit, it may be a territory issue and the movement will confuse them and lead them to claim new territories

Unfortunately it's not easy for me to rearrange my rockwork, most of the structures are anchored below the sandbed to acrylic plates using threaded nylon rods. I guess the yellow will just have to fight back.

take out the blue tang for 1 week in QT, rearrange rock work and feed yellow tang well for that week.. let it recover before introducing blue tang back in tank.

thanks for the replies guys, but I din't think I want to tear down my tank to catch the blue tang.....well you know what they say, "what goes around comes around"...the yellow tang is just paying for what he did when I introduced the blue tang to the tank. He'll just have to ride it out I guess.
