I have a feeling it’s going to be a hot summer and I don’t want to deal with what I had to deal with last year with my tank temp jumping off the scale. So do anyone know a good site to buy and nicely priced chiller.

What kinda lights do you have? Why not just upgrade to LEDs? They give off a lot less heat.:)

right now I have 4xbulb T5 on the tank that is kept in the basement, during the summer it can get a little toasty/humid down there. I would love to go LED but have no idea where to start.

Get yourself an AI sol! It'd cost just about the same as a chiller.

Have you tried cooling fans on your tank? They can make a serious difference and you are not putting out more heat like with a chiller. I have an aqua quest 1/10 hp chiller on my 55 gallon because the summer's in MO. with metal halide lights can get toasty. It works great, if I had it to do over again I would have looked a little harder at a drop in style chiller rather than one that utilizes a water pump. If you are looking at LED's have you considered a DIY? Like a boost or rapid kit? I have not tried them, the LED's I have on my 29 gallon are ecoexotic par 38's royal blues and marineland reef capable 10,000K but I don't have any hard coral in this tank, only sofites. So far so good with this combination and 0 heat!

What kind of coral are you trying to keep? This will help you determine optics, wattage, color etc. Contact the company that is selling the LED's they should help you make an educated choice. For me I am sort of using the hit or miss with my 29 gallon with the ultimate goal of trying to figure out what I want to do with my 55 gallon, LED's for me are just a matter of time.
