Im really looking into making a sump/fuge build im running a canister right now my question is i have a 20 gal long sitting around and a 10gal (if i need) i was wandering would that be big enough to run my 125gal aga reef tank with a sump/fuge in the 20gal long..??? im very new to sumps but all the research on here and the internet i think im ready i have a DIY stand and have plenty of room and the tenk is 9" off my wall plenty of room for an overflow my only worry is if the power shuts off which it does all the time up here in the winter is that i do it right cause cant all your water drain out if not done right...ive read that please comments would be sweet.......Rocky...;D

Yeah, that would be fine. A larger tank would give you more water valume and a larger fuge though. I would run a 36g or a 40g breeder IMO. In this hobby you can't always think of the now, you have to think and plan ahead. A 20g long would be fine for now, but once you start adding your equiptment (skimmer phos/carbon reactor ect...) you would want a larger tank.

+1. Get as big of a sump as you can. For example, I run a 40b for my 150 DT. It completely takes up the bottom of my stand.

I run a 55 under my 125 as my sump / fuge and it works great. I dont know if I would have the extra space needed for the extra water when I cut out my pump if I used a 20.

sounds like your on the right track now, like everyone here says go bigger and you will be happier, i am building a 40 breader fuge/sump for my new 120, i think you should do a 30B or 40B as well..
