Hey guys. I'm setting up a small frag business with a 20 gal. tank, but have a problem. A) I'm on the younger side- not kid/teen tho (without giving away personal info) and B) am basically broke lol. Jobs aren't paying for much these days. I need to know which lighting would be the best for my tank if I were to do, say, 2 levels to my tank (using plastic shelving or something). The frags I'd be selling would be thing that grow on the faster side (on the bottom shelf) and things that grow on the slower side (on the top shelf). Though I know that with almost every coral, you need some highly awesome and expensive lighting. Is there anything that you recommend that's small enough to fit over a 20 gal. tank and has enough brightness to help keep my corals alive? If so, just include as much info as you can so i can go over it with my dad. (He goes on here, too. I believe his name is CoralReefer, if he hasn't changed it...) Thanks all.

If your dad is Coral Reefer
then IMO you already have access to excellent advice

but I would agree with above, that T5 lighting combined with quality tubes would be a good choice

what are the dimensions of the 20 gallon tank - as there are some clamp on MH lamps that might also be worth looking at

Craigs list is an ideal place for ambitious people on a budget - you can find bargains on there
also the for sale forum on here might be worth looking at
ask your Dad to check them out , Im 100% certain he will know exactly if any of the items for sale would be ideal for your needs

if you are looking for cheap then check these guys out. I have the 150w MH form then and it works great. the T5's start really cheap and you probably will change the bulbs on any fixture you buy anyway. Hope it helps.

SnooknRedz- lol, i am a girl, so i think the term would be sister :p but alright, thanks for the advice. my tank is 20gal. long. i used to have a tank that was 20gal. tall, but it got a leak in the bottom and everything had to be moved from my tank to my dad's tank. so i just got the new 1 and am trying to make some money back with my frag business cause my dad has mohawks and purple people eaters that he might give me, along with a whole bunch of others...

Steve Wright- haha i totally disagree! he killed all my fish! all my chromises(sp), my clown, my wrasses. everything! he's a fish killer to my fish, but his have like top priority :p
