I totally agree. That's why I am asking If the product the lfs sells is good..

What should I look for when searching for skimmers?

I think you have a pretty good stocking list w/o the naso. However, not having a skimmer will greatly affect your water quality, especially with that many fish in there. If possible, put a hold on the naso and used that money towards a skimmer. I would also suggest getting an in sump skimmer. They tend to be more effective as the organic material in the water is stirred up and the in sump skimmer can better clean that water.

I don't know how much money you have but Precision Marine skimmer are good. I have the RL125 and really like it. Make sure to get one sized to your tank or larger. If you only have a FOWLR, then you can get one rated for your size tank, 150 gallons, but if you are going to be doing a reef, then I would get one rated in excess of your tank size. What i would do is look around the web for potential skimmers and post links here so we can comment on them and let you know if they are good.

take it from me, dont impulse buy. i impulse bought a skimmer and its been hell. it overflows alot, it doesnt produce properly, and it leaks like crazy. saving up to buy a SWC for my 75gal.

id recommend figuring out the dimensions of your sump to clarify what it can accomodate. if you post a picture of it and the dimensions of the chambers within the sump to this thread we can better help you in determining optimal skimmers.

How about the one in the link of page 2? It seemed that it's a good skimmer. What do you think?

There is a link on page 2 of this thread that is from eBay...
The skimmer is for 400g and all I have to do is bid higher than 71... Is that a good skimmer?

The Kent skimmer on pg 2 doesn't come with a pump, that will cost probably another $100 or so.
