I have a 1300gph powerhead in my 29 gallon qt tank and I am wondering if I should just put 2 100gph hob filters instead.

you can sure give it a try. for your tank 1300 gph in overflows equals about 44x turnover which is pretty good, it just might be a lot of flow from one source. i would point it so its pointing at like the front glass so it disperses the flow better. its worth a shot...ideally though you would have two pumps or more equalling the 1300 gph or so.

depends on the species kept, haha i had a turnover rate of 88x in 5 gallon back when i had the powerhead and a large hang on filter.

Point 'em up and they wont blast your corals and stuff but that probably will be ok try it and see. You can never have too many powerheads on hand

there isn't going to be any corals in it just fish while they are in qt. but i will try it and see it it seems like to much flow for the fish.

You dont need that kind of flow in a QT. The HOB filters would be better.
