Wow, that's crazy. Good thing you wereto ok afterward.

Be sure to ask for a smart doctor if you ever have to go to the ER again though (lol?)

Wow. Is it safe to out bare hands Ina tank with zoas? Do all polyps have the toxin? I have a heart defect so idk if zoas would be a wise choice for me. I would have sent that doctor a strongly worded email.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
It's rumored that zoanthids from the Hawaiian Islands/S. Pacific are some of the most toxic.

I have had problems with physically handling certain types. It took me a while to catch on to the issue. After prolonged exposure I developed tingling/swelling and some discomfort to my hands and forearms. I initially thought is was an allergy but once the large colony of zoanthids I had was removed I never experienced the problem again.

Some handle and frag zoanthids until the cows come home with no issues. With that said, some have had very significant medical issues.

It's just best to use caution when handling them IMO and experience.

Alright I'll get into the habit of using latex gloves when working in the tank and fragging. Such a beautiful coral, I cant say no to getting one.

I would be careful with Latex, it rips easily. I've used the dish washing gloves before. That is what I plan on buying again.

From what I have heard they always carry toxin, but its when they are threatened that its most potent. so fragging or disturbing them. I would just play it safe personally. There isnt actually any known cure for it, its either you make it or you dont. I was lucky. :-/
