I bought a zoa frag but it separated from its base during transit. I put it directly on a rock in the tank and it seems to be doing fine. Will it reattach to the new rock over time?

It's still where I put it, out of direct flow and nestled in. I'm just hoping it takes root there.

It'll root. As long as, it doesn't get disturbed by inverts/snails/current. It can also be glued to a small piece of rubble pretty easily.
