Can I independently put the zoas in the sand not attach to any rock? And can they reproduce?

I dont think the zoas will spread if there is no rock for them to attach to. I would think that they will just get buried under the sand and that will be that.

They may not grow but they should be able to survive. I would put them on a little rock on the sand bed.
