We used to use the same trick for lobsters. I have very cold Winters here in MA, while transporting from the boat to the wholesaler, we would cover the totes with burlap bags to keep them warm. You risk them of dropping their claws or even worse freezing.

LOL.. You hiding a horseshoe?? Just make sure the shrimp doesn't go after the eggs.. Remember this is all new to it. Funny, kinda like Finding Nemo. If you wake up in the morning & find papa shrimp at the door, RUN! lol...

    Its alomost 4 1/2" long.

It will have to be tomorrow b/c the main lights just turned off and the angle where the eggs are is facing the back of the glass. I would have to place a mirror on the side of the tank and take a pic from the mirror.

When I worked at Red Lobster in high school we would get the live crabs shipped in with nothing but styrofoam and ice packs. They would be barely moving when we opened them and within an hour or so they would be moving around like nothing happened! Nice random pickup by the way!

I know that crabs last much longer out of water, esp. the Blue Crab. I've seen Blue crabs still alive after being out of water for 3-4 days and surrounded with ice. I just never seen a shrimp do the same. Luna

    Wow. What a cool story!

Maybe I will go out to a local livery and buy some shrimp myself!

Quick question- I wouldn't mind some copepods in my tank but not sure how to get them in there. Do you just buy a liverock with them on it? It would really help out my two peppermint shrimp
