I had a rope eel (Erpetoichthys calabricus) go missing for about a half a day. Found him in the kitchen. They absorb their O2 via their intestines and can actually breathe air. Just like snakeheads. It was out of the tank for about 6 hours, covered in debris and hair. Picked him up thinking he was dead and after about a week, it was completely revived and back to normal.

When I was a kid, my friend had the same thing happen. Went to his house to find his oscar stuck to the carpet. Looked like shoe leather. He had to forcefully peel it off of the floor. Threw it back in the tank, and after a little while, it started swimming around. Had fuzz stuck to one side of it for a few days, other than that, it was fine.
