Yellow growing sponge, good or bad?

    This sponge was in the beginning on a small area, but has start to grow over other rocks. Now I wonder if this is a good or bad sponge?
    I don't want it to take over the hole tank :/

    It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    Few sponges are actually bad sponges. Liver sponges being one of the bad invasive ones.

    Usually as tanks evolve/age with today's new filtration methods the sponges just end up dying off.

    Newer tanks tend to have more nutrients and silicates.

    I've got some identical looking yellow sponges growing on a rock I added while cycling my current tank. Personally I'd love to see it live...and would be excited to see it take over the tank as I've never seen that happen with a sponge. :)
    But, as has always happened in the past its slowly dying off.

    I wouldn't worry about it. My guess is that it won't last long. I think I've had one last about 6 months at most?
