could this be RTN? I didn't notice the brown stuff yesterday. I was looking at my tank tonight and noticed this. I did have two leathers next to the xenia and I think there may have been some warfare going on. Should I cut off the part that isn't looking so good? I brushed my finger across them and they kinda melted. just came apart.....

Just because striped damsels eat xenia. I've seen it happen. A couple of the tips in your pic look like my buddies xenia that gets regular pruning from his. Just a thought but, wonder if yours is nipping at the xenia and causing some small problems?

Unfortunately, I can argue against most of the xenia "likes". I won't say all because I'm not totally sure. I have kept xenia @ 7 dKh. Pulsing and spreading.

I'm going to take the rock out and prune off the bad looking stuff and give the rest a dip in some iodine. How do you raise kH? doesn't baking soda work for that or is that something else I'm thinking of?
