WTH is This?

    I see this thing from time to time. It is always submerged in the sand with a little bit of it out of the sand.

    Then I may not see it again for a month. I see no shell.

    From what I can see it looks like a limpet. They usely go back to the same place in the morning, mine were in my live rock.

    with that body shape it could be a limpet, cowrie, or chiton

    I can't tell just by it's belly

    Good Pic. I never see that little circular mouth but I will look again.

    From the description and looking at the pictures it looks like a Stomatella to me, it most likley has a shell but its really small and unnoticeable.

    From this pic I would say no to this one. It is symmetrical and oval.

    I have one too and from time to time is burried in the sand on the front glass. Seems to come out onlt at night.

    My chitons (RIP) were the "fuzzy" variety as sold by reefcleaners. As long as they were in my tank they never burrowed. I don't know if others will or not though.
