It is a dry heat, yeah right !
    I would go for sure.

Maybe dress a friend or two, or employee as an officer of the law.

That's illegal even during Halloween to dress as an officer, it would clearly have to be a custom for it to not be illegal (fake belt, fake badge, fake gun, no flak vest, no walkie). The best theft deterrent is customer service! Just bug the crap out of anyone you think might be up to know good! They will get frustrated and leave!

I would go for sure though, sounds like a whole lot of fun - might scare the fish though! Boo! Also sounds like a lot of extra effort, unless your in a place that gets a lot of business. Our store could never pull this off, not enough reef keepers in Asheville, NC!

It wouldn't matter. I have 6 or 7 good friends that are cops. 2 of them would be considered close friends. I know a good 20 Highway Patrol Officers and 6 or 7 of them are close friends.

great idea. Just make sure any retail/dry goods areas are well lit and supervised...dark = theft.

That's an awesome idea, Curt! If you are in a location that gets a lot of business, I'd say go for it! I wish I was close!

Like others have said, I would try to keep customers contained to the livestock areas, only.

I like the ideal Curt. If you wasn't so far away I would come just to check things out. Plus I would drag my friends with me that still have tanks running... :-/

Good luck with what ever you decide.

I would definitely go! I would also definitely block off the dry goods areas as has already been mentioned. Make it clear when you announce the event that people will only be granted access to the coral section so that nobody goes there expecting to be able to wander around anywhere else in the store.
