Was wondering if a Peacock mantis shrimp (smasher) would eat mollies/guppies ? Cause I can't feed mine invertebrates, the cheapest shrimp/crab here cost around $20 :-/
If not, what can i feed him other than small fresh water fish ?

Have you tried any frozen foods like Krill or silversides?

Frozen is always an option. A bag of un processed shrimp at walmart is only a couple bucks. Another option is hit your local (if you have one) oriental food mart. I found little baby frozen clams (quarter size plus or minus) there for like $5 a bag. I had the lady there translate for me and ensure they were 100% uncooked, un flavored, etc. Basic they are out the water rinsed & froze. The next option is ebay. I found a play that sells live fiddler crabs like $40 for 20 delivered.

Most mantis are a bit of a scavenger. I dont think I have read of any that are strictly love only eaters.
