I have a 29 gallon tank and a 20 gallon sump I made underneath it. I have the hang on overflow down into it and a coralife skimmer and return pump. I have an aquaclear 70 sitting here and was wondering if I filled a bag of phosphate remover pellets and threw them in the aquaclear and hung it on the sump, would it work? I know you need to get a water flow through the pellets more than just letting it sit in the tank.

Yeah that will work OK..Won't be as efficient as a reactor though.

In all honesty you might as well just throw the gfo in a media bag and throw it in the sump you would get the same result with less clutter but that just my opinion... However yes it would work

Put them in the highest flow area of the sump.

^^+1 agree, there should be a place in the sump where you get good flow
