My wife has been in this hobby before we met and I'm fortunate that we get to share it together. I figured I'd show off her beautiful tank she's worked so hard for. She supports me with the saltwater tanks so equally I support her freshwater taste. It's a 55 gallon tank with a 15 gallon sump I plumbed in. It's heavily stocked so I wanted the tank to have great turnover so an external 1200 gph pump with a flow valve handles that nicely. I put on an eshoppes 800 overflow and 600 gph power head in the tank. Substrate is a black and white cichlid sand and various river rocks and decorations complete the package. I put on two 48" T5 lights with one red sea actinic and reef pink to give the fish a really nice glow. Here's some pics of the tank now at the 2 year mark. We've had no casualties but some had to be rehomed. All the fish started as tiny babies and my wife has been successful in breeding hundreds of babies. She's got a gift in the cichlid world. 20150218_183238.jpg 20150218_183254.jpg 20150218_183309.jpg 20150218_183315.jpg

The ones that were rehomed. Strawberry and multicolored peacocks and kenyea. There's another I can't remember but the last of the babies are in the holding areas on both sides of the tank.

The one Cichlid in the first picture, in the back, top and almost center. He looks like he's the godfather of the place.
Seems like if someone crossed him they'd be carpet diving by the the nights end.

Thanks everyone! My wife is flattered by the comments, she doesn't realize how good she is. The godfather of the tank is my compresseset. I named him "HEMI" since he looks like a barracuda;)

Yah... Hemi has that look like you don't want to cross him. Really like the setup!

He's a really cool fish. Nobody messes with him and when territorial disputes get to rough he steps in. Cichlids have some amazing color, it's cool to watch them color up from babies.

He's a few more pics. Some baby shots too. The first pic doesn't do this guy justice. He's got the most color I've ever seen, he literally glows. 20150222_125708.jpg 20150222_125231.jpg 20150222_125342.jpg 20150222_125317.jpg
