I have the second one that you mention. It has the individual reflectors and the timer. So far I have not had any issues with it. The only thing I plan on doing shortly is changing the bulbs to Geismann bulbs. for the price it seems to work good for me.

Do you plan on adding corals at some point? Or just fish?

I have the professional one. Works great. The bulbs arent the best, but you can buy better ones later on. The timer controls the 2 daylights, the 2 antics, and the leds. So there are three cycles to it.

go with either of them. the professinal series is what I would get.. I have a 2x54w older model and havent had any problems, just upgraded bulbs..

if you have a custom hood, you could always addon another 2x54w or slim 4x54w unit with your new lights down the road if you wanted to grow sps corals..

i have a 48 inch 4x 54w t5 fixture from odyssea just like the one your looking at. it is great. the blue moon leds are really cool at night you can see what goes on in your tank at night without disturbing the inhabitants. i also have a pulsing xenia that loves the light it pulses all day long.
