It was in the LFS tank for about three months.

When I got it, it was white w/ purple tips.

After a while it turned that non/off white, which I was told that would go back to white after it got used to my lights.

I have had it for about a month or so.

I have fed it twice since I have had it, about once every 2 weeks.

    What could of caused this?

I do have 2 peppermint shrimp.

LMK if you guys need any other info.

Within a few days of me bringing it home.

can you post some specifics about your tank and parameters please.

Tank size, time since setup. what type of lights and what wattage/rating (12k/420nm, ect)

Ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and phosphate levels

    These would help a ton

It looks that way because it is now healthy. Few people realize that anemone's are not supposed to be white; pale color (white) is a sign of a stressed and unhealthy anemone. The darker the brown the better.
The turning to brown is a GOOD sign ;)

Yea it starting turning brown as soon as a put it in the tank. Within a day or two it was already brown. That is really good to know, thanks.

What do you think about those spots or whatever they are?

So does anyone know why the tentacles look like they've been nipped at?

As far as the "nipping" look, I'm not 100% sure. However I can tell you that all anemone's do water changes (as they are 90% water) and when that happens they can look a little strange and some times not healthy.

When an anemone is pure white, I agree, this is not healthy. The color in their tentacles is actually as a result of bacteria that they need and that they eat. The darker, the better. I rescued a condy from DeathCO and was able to bring it back to life then sell it later.

Different strain of zooxanthellae and population, different lighting and intensity and water paramters all play a part in the health and depiction of you anemone!

I believe he concluded that his peppermint shrimp was picking at it....... He made a reply somewhere in a cleaner shrimp thread.

I don't know if they are picking at it or not. I just know they seem to show interest in it. I have never seen them picking at it, just near it.

If they are picking at it, would that cause the tips and tentacles to look that way?
