Why are my nitrates high? And how do I get them to 0

    Why the switch? I never used suger sand, lots of folks say it gets blown around too easy.

    Keeping the sugar fine sand in place with 4 Tunzes is pretty hard. Crushed corals works much better for that.

    Oh right its DI water I tested it for nitrates and it was undetectable.

    And how old are those books you are reading? Times change you know. And please don't bring up Anthony Calfo as an expert.

    I have 1" of live sand & chaeto and LR rubble with some other algae with lots of pods & my nitrates are always 0 now :)

    Oh okay, when I was buying RO water out of the machines at Albertsons, it turned out they had 10 Nitrates. Sorry just a thought.

    Also the new fuge, with the macroalgae and live rock may get you where you need to be. Good Luck.
