    Leslie,

I have a neighbor who uses them & he has had nothing but trouble with them. He has a acrylic tank which these are not designed for. Apparently they overheat and are quite noisy after a while. He has had to go to manufacturer a number of times on different issues.

Mighty big price to pay for possible problems.

When you say vortech's what one are you referring to ? Did I miss a model number or a where to get or see one link ? Vortech covers several pumps and types.

i believe you are talking about the ones that go through the glass. a hydor koralia is similiar except you can AIM THE FLOW unlike the vortechs that shoot the flow in 1 direction.

We run several of the circulation vortechs work well but not wort the 350.00 price tag. Can be problematic also shaft wobble on one of them is enough to make it vibrate loose through a 1/2 glass.. Now if you are talking about Vortech Diatom filters ? I use own and use them also..

I use them on a daily bases have been running about a yr now .. Works very well but a bit pricey unless they have came down ? The Korllia ? work just as well for the money.
