who likes watching there mantis shrimp wreak havok?

    Yeah, I've tried to get pictures but beck is still a little shy all I can say is he is mostly a dull green with a colorful tail...although all the peacock mantis shrimps ive seen have yellowish eyes, my guy has green

    Yea it's not a smithii, had to take another look to realize it. But I did find what it is for sure, it's a g. Ternatus, spelling may be a little off, sorry. Just look at roys list, all it's info is there

    Dude, thank you so much for IDing my mantis, that rocks. I checked out the site and its totally the "Gonodactylaceus ternatensis" and I found out its a boy then, nice...I need a cigar and a ballon that says "its a boy"

    Alright so, I would like to hear a little about him, like how long is he? What do you feed him?

    Yeah, well I got him about a month ago. He's like 3.5-4.5 inches long and i've been feeding him shrimp and krill. He will occassionally smash the crap out of a hermit crab or a snail but thats been about it for his diet.

    Could be a male G. glabrous too couldn't it? Both have orange meral spots and males are green with blue antennal scales.

    Have any other pictures?

    If it is a ternatensis it will have red stripes between the segments on its back like this [​IMG]

    Yea stepho makes a good point, it's possible but I wouldn't think so as g. Glabrous are rare specially a male, but yea check the back to be sure

    Ok that diet sounds good, they also like various crabs, and mine love squid

    That settles it, definitely a G. Ternatensis then.

    Sweet looking mantis thats for sure.
