Currently, I have a single bulb NO fluorescent strip light for my 55 gallon tank. The bulb is the standard 40 W. I have about $200 to upgrade my lighting with. Was thinking about going with compact fluorescents (saw a deal for 4 x 65 W with "moonlight" setup for $199.99), but wasn't sure if that would get me any further to getting some "softies" in my tank. Don't want anything extravengant yet as I've only had this first SW tank for about 6 months now. Don't think I could afford the MH or the VHO and don't have anyway/anywhere to "mount" them (don't have a canopy or even a true hood - just glass cover and can't hang lights where the tank is). Any body have suggestions or thoughts? Would the PC be enough for anything?

    Dear James,

4 x 65w should be sufficient for most soft and LPS corals.

Don't know much about the pricing for the unit you are looking at though :)

I have the Jebo light that I got on Ebay, it has 4 55 watt bulbs and cost me less that $100. You will need to make a set of risers for it or it will raise the water temp.
