Will they survive from this? By adding premixed higher salinity saltwater will it be less stressful on them so that I can avoid this reaction?

What are you trying to bring the salinity up to? Only add premixed saltwater to the display, not just salt. If you are increasing the salinity, then slowly increase over a week. I believe you are going from 1.021 to 1.026? That is quite a swing.

The mushrooms will be fine. Most are very hardy excluding some ricordeas.

Thats right and am I right about increasing the salinity up to 1.026? I'm guessing the mushrooms can tolerate my current salinity...for awhile? Thanks for your help

You can take your swing arm, I guess thats what you have..
Into your LFS and have it checked against a calibrated refractometer ..
And see how much you are off, and mark yours.. If different..

Till you can get a calibrated refractometer

    Good Luck, Larry

1.025 would be good for salinity ..

I have two swing arms test units and get different readings sometimes.. I try to take multiple tests within 10 minutes on both devices.. to get a average reading.. eliminating air bubbles is the main thing, as well as the water temp when doing your tests..
