Have had an Achilles Tang in my QT tank for about a month. It is eating well ( pellets , flakes and nori) and seemed to be doing o.k. Today in the morning I noticed he was covered in white spots but they were like flake like. I just got home and it looks like he is covered in a white fuzz. Is it ich?

Boy you do the right thing and QT and he still gets sick !

Can you please post a picture of your fish.

My first guess would be ich, but that is more spotty than fuzzy.

Probably that... Normally ich when visible to us will look like a white pimple on the fish. But if it does have enough of them it will gain the fuzzy look I'd imagine. Is the fish still eating? and what size is the fish and the size of the QT tank?

Could possibly be a bacterial or fungal infection + ich as well.

What a gorgeous fish. It's hard for me to see, but I also think it looks like marine velvet. That disease requires treatment as it can be fatal very quickly.

I am sorry the pictures are too small.

Copper will treat both Marine Oodinium as well as Cryptocaryon ( Ich ).

It is fortunate you already have him in QT, now how to proceed is the question.
