White specs

    My system has been running since christmas eve. I have white specs that attach to the glass looks like micro bubbles but it is a solid of some sort?

    ive had them in every system ive set up they might be barnacles of some sort

    or they might be these[​IMG] which are sponges

    they seem to cover the glass, will they go away after time? I just worry that i am over feeding.

    i wouldn't worry about them too much, they are filter feeders so they probably aren't eating anything you put in there, btw you have to scrape them off if you don't want them.

    I clean the glass with with a sponge pad but they come back quickly

    Spirorbid worms of they are a little bigger than the size of a pin head. The white sponge that sostoudt is talking about is called a Syconoid sponge or more commonly known as a Q-tip or pineapple sponge. Regardless, they are filter feeders and are reef safe and beneficial.

    What's it look like? Spirorbid worms look like little white swirls. Cope pods are tiny specs that crawl and move.

    Hydroids look like this:

    And with hydroids...no matter how many times you wipe the glass, they'll come back in a few minutes. And they'll be everywhere. But ours went away in about a week. Never saw them ever again.

    I wouldn't worry about it. Everyone gets little white things everywhere at some point.
