I was looking at an area of macroalgae I have growing in my tank and noticed what looked like white hair algae on the macro. does this exist and if so what eats it? If not what is it?

I'd guess that it is just the new growth of the alage. They are white until the photosynthesis stuff (chlorophyl can't remeber) starts operating.

I'm having the same problem. I have been cycling my tank for a week now. White stringy hair is coming through the powerhead and starting to appear on the live rock.

    Help?

Hi, does it look like the stuff in this pic of Halemeda? I don't know what it is either, it comes and goes periodically and I figure it is part of it's growing process.
