    WOW..I have these too. For years! I thought they were little baby turbo snails growing?? I seemed to have had alot of baby turbo's after I noticed these. Glad to know what they were. Not there anymore since the crash. Phytoplankton, huh wonder where that came from, never fed it to anyone and what else nees that to grow? Should I start a new thread?

    Diatom algae is phytoplankton so it's in your system whether you add it or not. :)

    Most filter feeders and zooplankton eat phytoplankton.
