white algae taking over

    I just rescently set up my 10 gallon nano been running for a month and there is this white things on the walls of my tank and on my overflow box

    I think its some kind of algae but im not really sure and i would like to know how to get rid of it

    no they dont look like that

    they look more like white stringy ball things that sway with the current of my tank

    That's a great pic Fletch!!!

    OK...stringy ball things. I'm thinking Scypha sponge then. If so, they are harmless and in fact will bind up silica which is a good thing because most people would rather have these than diatoms.

    o i know those, they used to be in my filter before i got rid of it...poor little guys :(
