I'm deciding on going with Ecotech Marine VorTech Propeller MP40 Pumps for my 72 gallon bowfront tank. The only problem is I dont know how many I should use for my cank and how many I should buy?

Out of all the Vortechs out which is recommended for a 72 gallon?

the MP40 should be great and you should only need the one. i don't own but have heard they are plenty for a tank that size.

one would suffice... but consider putting either another in there or else a few other smaller powerheads to kinda give it a more random flow pattern

the mp40 can put out upto 3000GPH. that and a K1 on the opposite side of the tank will more than meet your req for SPS dominant in a 72 Bow.MP40's are 400$ BTW...guess you can do the math on 4 or 5 of em.

I think 2 would be great, that's what I'm putting on my 75g. I agree with the idea of having flow from both sides of the tank. The nice thing about 2 MP40W's is you can synch them up so one spins up while the other spins down so you get a cool back and forth alternating flow pattern. If you have the money I think that's the best solution, IMO.
