I want to get a phosban 550 reactor and modify it with the screens to run biopellets. What pump would you suggest? mag 3?

according to the web the Recommended flow rate for the Phosban 550 reactor is : 80 gph-120 gph

the mag 3 is rated at 350 gallons per hour and will be to powerful IMO for running GFO in that reactor

possibly a maxijet or rio would be a better option, both have water pumps within the suggested range given for the reactor

What about for biopellets (with the screens inserted)? The same flow?

you do not want to much flow on the pellets either
N3MATOCYST using the Rio sounds about right to me
the equivalent flow rate maxijet would also be fine

i have the phosban 150 reactor, tweaked for bio pellets and it has the sicce 1.5 pump on it which is 357gph which gives it a perfect tumble on 250ml of ecobak pellets. everyone says to use the maxijet 1200. but i found that to not be enough. and the pellets to have a dead spot that didnt move much. so my thoughts are the mag 3 wont be enough flow for the 550 with bio pellets. since i had to get a pump with more flow on the 150

I thought the maxijet wouldn't be enough as well. I will eventually use 500mL of biopellets for my size tank as recommended by BRS. I was worried that a maxijet wouldn't be able to handle that much.
