    Need help picking out the amount of wattage to go over a 24 gallon aqua pod, just looking to see every ones thoughts!

    Currently it has the stock 64 watt PCS which i hate

    I plan on keep every type of coral including clams in this tank


    So please vote on the poll!!! Thanks for the help!!

    I think one high quality 4-bulb t-5 fixture would be perfect for this tank.

    I agree. One top of the line 4 bulb system would be nice.

    Or a middle of the road 6 bulb fixture.

    I think an 8 is a bit much. I would choose the 6 bulb fixture to give you more options for bulb selection.

    A high quality T5HO fixture can penetrate to 30", a 150W MH can only penetrate to 18". Now add in heat concerns and the cost for a chiller and the cost of running 96W versus 178W+.

    4 bulb T5 gets my vote...unless you're willing to spring for LED's.

    not really interested in the led for this tank, hmmmm i thought that 4 bulbs would not be enough for all types, shows how much ik haha


    what bulbs would u all go with?

    All ATI, 2 Blue Plus, 1 Purple Plus and 1 Aquablue Special. If you do a retrofit in a canopy you can spread the bulbs out to get greater coverage in the tank. 1" between reflectors would be a good starting place.

    Not doing retro, gonna get a 24 inch fixture ( will have small hang over as tank is 18 inches)

    +1...exactly what I would do...get good TEK reflectors and ATI bulbs and you'll have plenty of light/PAR IMO.
