ATI is a higher quality fixture. But priced accordingly. I have a 8x54W Tek myself (over my 90) and am very, very pleased with it. Good choice on UVL. Best out there IMHO.

That is what I wanna do too just hearing that someone else has the light fixture I am looking at in the same style tank makes me happy to hear. Do you have or have you had any high light clams or do you have a lot of SPS? I plan on keeping mostly SPS and one or two clams and just a few LPS and Softies.

Just curious...why do you think UVL is so superior?

Also Tek is great but once they have fans they will really be great....

I would go with an Aquactinic before an ATI... just as good, not as expensive, best AMERICAN light you can buy.
Definetly a step or two over a Tek.

I have never heard of Aquactinic I did some research and from what I have found ATI is cheaper for a 48'' 6 bulb fixture than Aquactinic's 48'' 6 bulb fixture. Maybe I am looking in the wrong places I dunno... But the main question I really have is which one do you think would support my setup the best? The ati 48'' 6 bulb or the tek 48'' 8 blub?

    *EDIT*
From reviews and everything I have read about many different bulbs I would have to go with UVL. Which one do you think is the "best" Dr. Fragenstein?

I would go aquactinic as well, the ATI's are very nice but $$$.

The tek is a solid unit, but I cannot believe they don't yet make an actively cooled one with fans.

Bulbs, the best there are across the board pretty much are ATI. UVL's IMHO are probably at the bottom of the list for higher end and not cheap bulbs. I treid the UVL SA bulb when it forst came out a few years back and was not impressed. I have seen better actinic bulbs made by Coralife to be honest.

As far as best, the word best would be in the eye of the beholder.... When I refer to "best" I typically mean highest PAR outout per lamp plus overall quality. Thus, ATI would take the cake, second by Giesemann and rounding out third would be UVL...
Of course there are other brands that might have a lamp or two that have high PAR values but no one, at least ATM beats ATI....

Think I am going to go with the 8x54w TEK fixture. Yes I realize no fans oh well my tank will not overheat I can almost guarantee that with the setup I have right now. As its goes for Aquactinics I looked for a 6 bulb set complete and one would be 854$ think I will get the two 8x54w TEK instead LOL. Plus I know the TEK is a decent light fixture and no one has said that it can not run a 90 gallon mainly SPS/ with few clams tank yet.

Were you looking at Aquactinics Constellation or Solar Flare?
Aquactinics has built in fans, acrylic splash shield and better aluminum, but yes the Tek will be a good light on the tank.
