I would go with the halide. I wouldn't think 50w of LED could replace 250w halide, if that was your intention. What kind of corals are we talking?

Colors should pop from halides and/or quality LEDs.

    Maxi Mini anemones.

The heat I do not mind, electricity cost not as much either.

I just need something around the $100-$200 price range that will work. I take a lot of pictures of these guys which is why I need the colors to pop and need a widespread light :)

Just so you know, i have switched to LED lighting...I'm running 2- 60W LED fixtures over my 55G tank. I have to turn the lighting way, way down because it is very intense...the 60W fixture definitley put out the same or more light than a 250MH. I would look into a PAR ratings for the LED first. Think of the cost of bulb replacement and ballast. LED fixtures have a bulb replacement period of 5-10 years compared to every 6-8 months with T5 and every year with MH

that $69 panel on ebay will not work alone is my thoughts as the bulbs are 0.06Watt X 225 LED =13.5W per panel. compare that to what you are running now. you would have to use T5's or something along with it
