just make sure you acclimate it properly to the light first.

Thanks guys. My whole tank is acclimating to new lights as I just installed an LED unit on Wednesday. It came from a halide system.

i would start it on the sandbed, almost lost a frag of monti cap because i didnt acclimate it to my lights properly.

Lights are essentially at their lowest setting right now as my entire tank adjusts. Do you think I would still need to put it on the sand bed?

I would put it lower personally. If not on the sandbed in the lower half of the tank. Move it up as you can until you find a place you want to keep it at. They encrust pretty fast and are very hardy, even hardier than most montipora in my experience.

Great. I'll move it right now. Thanks for the advice, all.

+1 on light acclimatization for me

I always start any SPS down either at the sand bed, if they came on rock type plugs that will free stand
or if they come on spiked type plugs, I place them on my frag rack and move that very low
