Oceanparadise will recommend "High Desert Play Sand" from Home Depot if you can find it. supposed to be like $4 - $6 for 50lbs

Yeah he will, but 2 things about that stuff.
1, we don't know about silicates in it, and we don't know what kind of sand it is. Aragonite is best. We also don't know if it would pass the vinegar test, which would tell us if it is aragonite.

    2. you can't get that sand at all HD's across the nation. They don't sell it here in WI, and you may not be able to egt it where you are. I don't know if it is a regional thing or what.

In any case, unless it passed the vinegar test, I would not attempt to run that in any reef tank.

Take some vinegar to a local mason supply yard, you know the places that have lots of bricks and stuff. They will have several varieties of sand. on the west coast w can get Monterey Bay sand for about $6 /50lb bag Not a big box store find a local contractor supply type place.
