Yes, by quite a bit. They are spec'd closer to actual 420nm too.

Is there a difference between aquastyles Violet and ledgroupbuy's violet?

Just want to clarify that the 420s will be visually brighter than the 398s, simply because 400nm is right on the edge of what our eyes can see. I will tell you that when I put my hand under each led, the 398s feel warmer, not in heat, but in radiance, if that makes sense...:p

Yes, you can feel the uv rays burning your skin, like when you are outside on a sunny day. I would like to do a little more experimentation with the true UV LEDs, I haven't seen any scientific research proving their benefit, but I haven't seen much on the reds, greens or violets either. I have no firm opinion on these yet, as I have just started to use them for testing.

Let me know about this, as I've seen 405nm leds being used that weren't as useful as 420nm have been. The basic understanding is that they are damaging to coral, but if done right it could help mimic something missing that we don't understand yet.

405 is not UV, but rather low range violet. They are likely too dim to have much advantage.

Yes, that's why I'm interested in actual UV. There is a real danger of frying coral with it unfortunately if there is too much of it.

Isn't the goal to mimmic the MH? If we look at this graph there is definitely low range UV and high range Violet.
