I know quite a few people have experimented with different LEDs in the violet and even into the ultraviolet wavelengths in the 380-430nm range...

What's your favorite one and why? Those that have a mix, would you rather just have your favorite or do you prefer the mix?

I would personally do a mix, but with a choice between the 2, I would do 420nm, as they are brighter than the 410. Anything below 410 is not really needed, and not too bright. Below 400nm is a no for me, one of the benefits of LED is a lack of harmful UV lights, which are not required to keep corals thriving.

Semi LED or Bridgelux, Semis would be easier to find in the USA.

I tried two, the Semileds 420 from Stevesleds, and the True Violet from ledgroupbuy. The Semileds are much nicer.

    Are they visually brighter?

Was there a color difference? LEDGroupBuy probably didn't bin theirs if it was dimmer

May not be required to keep them thriving but are essential to certain chromoprotiens in specific photosystems for some zoox... regarding coloration

True, but unless you dim them separate, you risk burning your corals.

    Following....

I currently have Rapids Violet 410-420nm LEDs and really enjoy them, I do plan on installing 398nm AquaStyle LEDs on Wednesday. I am still debating between two or three but if I see anything burn I'll just take them out until.
