Xenia is a weird coral, and some people keep it for 3 years and then it just dies.

1.023 is not high, most people say to keep it at 1.025..But 23 is not bad, i would say it is okay right there.

Post a pic your xenia, maybe it isnt the pulsing type.

i have LOTS of xenia, more than i care for. much of it pulses, some of it does not. no rhyme or reason to it either, it is a very odd coral.

I was thinking about this and realize I never responded. I don't have any hypothesis for how death of xenia could drop ca and I can't think of any reason why low ca would kill xenia, or find any references suggesting either of these scenarios could happen. Generally though soft corals are fairly unresponsive to calcium levels, I'd be surprised if 320 was low enough to kill it although anything is possible. IME though some soft corals can be responsive to alkalinity. So, that would be my guess as to why kalk could help. Also, were you dosing kalk when it crashed, that wasn't quite clear. Usually low calcium is either due to lack of dosing or a alkalinity overdose. I could see an alkalinity overdose killing off Xenia. or if your ca dropped, did your alk also drop? Really just guessing though...
