What are your params? Is there a powerhead directed at it?

Params are ok with the exception of Nitrates being .20. The powerheads are located at the top of each end of tank, tipped slightly upward.

It looks shaded by your lr I would get it out in the open under more light.

I disagree. I think the heads that look bad are actually in too much light... my frogspawn prefers shade.

I think you have either too much light or too much flow on those heads and I am leaning towards flow. Where your powerheads are located isn't very important... they can be anywhere in the tank and still provide too much or too little flow to any given area as water circulates and bounces around the entire tank.

Try moving it and see what happens.
What type of lighting was it under and how far away when you bought it?
Ime frogspawn can take alot of light I have a large 18+ head right under 8 ati t5's and it's quite happy.
Too much direct flow will cause it not too open as stated earlier.

Do you think there may be more to it? See the section to the right is thriving. There really isn't that much difference in lighting or flow in the 3 inches between heads...know what I mean? Well that picture doesn't accurately depict it rt now...I moved it into the direct light on bottom of tank now.

As Matt says "go slow let it grow", I would let it be for a while maybe try target feeding some mysis.
