I have one beautiful turquoise discus in my tank. Yesterday I added 2 more. They are quite a bit smaller & my turk is definitely dominant. They don't dare venture out of their corner or he chases them back. I have live plants, but they are small yet. I added alot of plastic. Maybe it did a bit. I notice the little ones are a bit braver & are venturing further from their corner, but they are still chased back if they are spotted. He really watches them carefully @ feeding time. They don't get much to eat.

As I said, mine is a planted tank & should have 12 hours of light / day, but today it got 10 1/2. I figured the little ones deserved a break.

Can you think of anything else I could try ?

    Thanks.

section him off with what ? ( an abundance of rock, driftwood & plants ) I don't have anything large enough to section 0ff my 36 gallon. I only used those to keep my adult guppies away from the babies in my 10 gallon.

For now I put a wall of plastic plants & driftwood down the centre of the tank. It will not keep them apart, but it may allow the little ones to swim about & eat more easily. We'll see.

It has worked well so far. The little ones have actually been wandering around their side of their section & " so far " the Turk has been leaving them alone. It will be good when I can get rid of my plastic & let my real plants grow.

I discovered something neat while rearranging my tank. i piled one piece of driftwood on top of another & it makes an almost perfect arch. I think I'll leave it.

    simplest way is

when hitting the reply button select the go advanced option
then next to the smiley face there is a paper clip
click on the paper clip and a new box appears
allowing you to down load images from your computer

click on the browse button - and then find the file you want to down load
double click said image and it will start downloading

    then click close this window
and image will appear on your post
