It's weird, just today, after a few weeks, the xenia I have are darker and somewhat wilted...what would cause this?

Hard to say, some times they just do that. Might be a change in any parameter.

It is a dry heat, yeah right !
+1. It is a puzzling coral that rarely follows the generalization applied to coral husbandry. Are you sure it not Anthelia rather than Xenia?

Are your nitrates dropping rapidly? Xenia is one of those corals that can tolerate higher nitrate and often does will in a more nutrient rich system. The sudden drop in nitrates could cause an adverse affect. I'm sure someone is going to argue with this........

as 2in10 and corrailine said who knows, I had a stalk stay 1 stalk for a year, now it grows like a dang weed, and I've had some melt for no reason. Its a goofy coral, but watch it, when it decides to take off, it goes, I'd put it on an island just to try to keep control of it.

Yeah I added some to my tank about a week ago just to see what it would do and it's already going nuts..reproducing. Just because it tends to be tolerant of nutrient rich water, doesn't mean it won't do well in clean water. My tank right now is sitting at 0 on ammonia, nitrite and po4. 5 PPM nitrate. It's still going nuts.
