I have a 46 gallon bowfront and plan on getting a light fixture here in the near future. I plan on keeping mostly soft corals. I was thinking about getting a metal halide setup. I don't know if I should with the brace in the center of the tank. Can you get away without actnic bulbs with a 10k or 12k metal halide bulb? Any recommendations for buying reasonable metal halide fixtures. I was looking to get a pendant.

I know you could get away without actinics using a 14K bulb and a 20K bulb...but some people don't like to blueness, but supplementing with actinics on a 10k or 12k bulb is beneficial. I know IceCap makes some nice pendants, same with sunlight supply (same guys who make tek lights). How deep is your tank!?

I'd get an icecap 175 metal halide ballast get a pendant and throw a DE HQI 14k in it.
