    i use 4x54W T5 on a 120gal softy LPS tank
    I'm surprised so many people selected T5

    I have PCs because thats what came with my tank. Im not too well educated in lighting, so i'll throw out the question, can you keep most/all SPS under T5's?

    i have yet to find any SPS i couldnt keep under t5s

    That statement should be quantified with a depth disclaimer.

    If you have a tank deeper than a 55, T5's won't penetrate down sufficiently to sustain SPS corals if kept on the bottom.

    T5's are outstanding lights, and give more bang for the buck than the more expensive halide lamp. It's an even better scenario if the T5s are run off an overdriving ballast like the Ice Cap, but it shortens bulb life. . . Nevertheless, T5s will do everything that halides will; but only in a shallower tank.

    If you have a larger tank, and plan to have SPS corals, halides are the better choice.
