I also use a T-5/MH/LED lunar combo light
i use 4x54W T5 on a 120gal softy LPS tank
I'm surprised so many people selected T5
T5HO's is where it is at!
2x150w 10K + 2 PC 03's
90g Bow, deep tank -- still plenty of light
I have PCs because thats what came with my tank. Im not too well educated in lighting, so i'll throw out the question, can you keep most/all SPS under T5's?
i have yet to find any SPS i couldnt keep under t5s
That statement should be quantified with a depth disclaimer.
If you have a tank deeper than a 55, T5's won't penetrate down sufficiently to sustain SPS corals if kept on the bottom.
T5's are outstanding lights, and give more bang for the buck than the more expensive halide lamp. It's an even better scenario if the T5s are run off an overdriving ballast like the Ice Cap, but it shortens bulb life. . . Nevertheless, T5s will do everything that halides will; but only in a shallower tank.
If you have a larger tank, and plan to have SPS corals, halides are the better choice.
i have sps growing on the bottom of my 90 with t5's
PC's 3x24w 50/50 72w over 5.5 gal....
