Its about an inch and a half and it is the only fish in my tank. I am worried that it is a maroon clown, but it seems odd because of the black on the fins. I am hoping it is an ocellaris, but im kind of skeptical.

How old do you think the fish is, and how big?

It sure looks like a Maroon to me, perhaps a juvenile one.

That is, 100% no doubt in any way, shape or form, a maroon clown. Pack him up and send him to me if you don't want him. I'm thinking of getting one anyway.

Ita a beautiful fish but I was told it would work in my nano by itself. The manager at my lfs has never screwed me over in the past( I bought all my freshwater fish from him) so now im wonder if he will do alright by himself in my small tank.

Under 20 gallons, probably need to re-home in a year or so.

Problem is once hey become established you will not be able to introduce anything to the tank or it will be killed. Mine killed even hermits and every other fish I ever tried to introduce. It did however love it's Bubble Tip Anemone.

Maybe the LFS guy does not know a lot about Maroons.

Well from the start I only wanted one clownfish so I had already bought two hermits before I got the clown. I also added extra shells so they wouldnt kill each other. Im just hoping since he is a male that he wont grow too big. Also I have a ton of feather dusters in my tank that also keep the bio load down. The clown seems to be doing fine and he ate all his food on day one
